This race is just one of numerous competitions taking place at the Chipping Agricultural Show. Entry to the show is £8, but on entering the race they pay you £2! This was the first time I have been paid to race and I am liking it! Pictures.
Leave plenty of time to get there, park, find registration (well hidden!) and get changed. The race starts in the central field of the show and the first 10 finishers end there too. The first mile is over fields with a few bogs and two stream crossing, then it gets a little steeper for a mile. The climb up Parlick hil at 2miles is very steep and everyone has to walk it. The descent is very steep, then its another climb and back the way you came. There were quite a few hidden holes your leg could go down so be careful. A few folk got a bit lost and everyoone seemd to make up their nown route on the final descent.
There were loos at the show and plenty of food and drink available. Photograph the results to be sure. My car had to be towed off the parking field by a tractor which added to the excitement.
Photograph the results.
All in all a well organised, hard race but watch out for holes.
